Director
Harish
Shankar
hit
the
headlines
recently
when
the
update
about
his
much-hyped
project
with
power
star
Pawan
Kalyan,
Ustaad
Bhagat
Singh
has
come
to
an
indefinite
halt.
The
movie
is
loosely
based
on
Theri,
a
Tamil
film.
A
couple
of
hours
later,
the
director
announced
another
project
with
Mass
Raja
Ravi
Teja.
This
movie
is
also
said
to
be
a
remake
of
Ajay
Devgn's
Raid.
Fans
of
the
director,
Tollywood
film
buffs
are
trolling
Harish
Shankar
for
his
decision
to
direct
only
remake
films
of
late.
Harish
Shankar
started
his
career
as
a
screenwriter.
He
worked
with
writers
and
directors
like
Ram
Gopal
Varma,
Puri
Jagannadh,
Kona
Venkat,
etc.
As
a
writer,
his
notable
works
include
'Ninne
Istapaddanu,'
and
'Veede.'
With
his
rapport
and
friendship
with
Ravi
Teja,
Harish
Shankar
turned
into
a
director
in
2006.
He
made
the
movie
titled
Shock,
in
which
Jyothika
was
the
heroine
opposite
Ravi
Teja.
He
then
made
Mirapakay
in
2011
with
Ravi
Teja
again
and
scored
a
hit.
He
made
Gabbar
Singh,
a
remake
of
Dabangg
with
Pawan
Kalyan,
which
made
him
one
of
the
most
promising
directors
in
Tollywood.
His
other
films
include
Jr
NTR's
Ramayya
Vasthavayya,
Subramanyam
For
Sale,
Allu
Arjun's
Duvvada
Jagannadham,
Gaddalakonda
Ganesh,
and
the
recently
announced
Ustaad
Bhagat
Singh
with
PSPK.
When
Ustaad
Bhagat
Singh
was
announced,
Harish
Shankar
was
trolled
for
making
a
remake.
He
later
issued
a
clarification
that
they
have
made
several
changes
to
the
basic
plot
to
make
it
appealing.
However,
now
that
the
movie
came
to
an
abrupt
halt,
his
next
remake
of
Raid
was
announced,
much
to
the
chagrin
of
the
film
buffs
and
fans.
They
expressed
mixed
reactions,
most
of
them
aimed
at
criticizing
the
director
for
his
likeliness
to
pick
remakes
always.
They
commented
brutally
asking
if
he
can
write
his
script
for
once.
