Superstar Rajinikanth's latest dark comedy-action film Jailer, written and directed by Nelson, hit the screens to a thumping response from fans of the veteran, as well as film buffs. The movie was released in five languages throughout the world.

Jailer is reviewed as a movie that excites Rajinikanth's fans with adequate elevations, character arc, and a perfect comeback for the actor. On the first day of its theatrical release, the movie is estimated to make about Rs 42 Crore from India.

The movie Jailer brings the epic pairing of superstar Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan back, this time as wife and husband. In addition, the film features Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Naga Babu, Sunil, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Tamannaah, Mirnaa Menon, Vasanth Ravi, Kishore, and Billy Muralee among others in prominent roles.

The Anirudh Ravichander musical is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner on a budget of about Rs 200 Crore. Jailer has cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan while R Nirmal worked as its editor.
