Superstar Rajinikanth's latest dark comedy-action film Jailer, written and directed by Nelson, is on a rampage at the box office. The movie released amid huge expectations in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on August 10.

Jailer is reviewed as an above-average entertainer which showcased superstar Rajinikanth in a brand new avatar, which his fans are now going gaga over. The role of Muthupandian, a retired Jailer is something like an author-backed role for the Thalaivar. He has been doing routine characters of late, and Jailer is what a relief!

The movie albeit slow and has a loose narration, did manage to set the ticket counters ringing. Anirudh Ravichander's background score and music, Vijay Karthik Kannan's cinematography coupled with subtle comedy and nuances from the actors' makes Jailer a unique experience on the screen.

Jailer Story
The movie is the story of a retired Jailer Muthu, whose son, a strict ACP gets kidnapped. Muthu lives a peaceful life but when he learns that his son was murdered, he sets out to avenge his death. A flashback of Muthu unravels, and there is a twist. What happens next, is to be seen on the big screen.

Jailer movie stars superstar Rajinikanth, Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon, Naga Babu, Kishore, Redin Kingsley, Saravanan, SunilReddy, Aranthangi Nisha, Uday Mahesh, G Marimuthhu, and Mahanadi Shankar, among others in key roles. In addition, the movie features Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar in cameos.

The movie was bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. The budget was Rs 200 Crore. Vijay Kartik Kannan cranked the camera, and Anirudh Ravichander composed outstanding background score and music. R Nirmal worked as the editor of Jailer.
