Jailer: Nelson Opens About Nandamuri Balakrishna's Cameo In Rajinikanth's Film; Says 'I Felt It Not Powerful'

Superstar Rajinikanth's latest comedy-action drama Jailer, written and directed by Nelson is on a rampage at the box office this weekend. The movie released to a thumping response on August 10 worldwide.

Despite the movie getting mixed responses from a certain section of the fans and critics for its pale second half, the director's choice of depicting Rajinikanth, usage of his comedy timing, and interesting first half won appreciation. Musician Anirudh Ravichander breathed entire life into Jailer with his gripping background score and tunes.

Jailer opened to an outstanding reception from all over the world. The movie made about Rs 70 Crore on its release day, which speaks volumes of superstar Rajinikanth's stardom and market.

Nelson Opens Up About Nandamuri Balakrishna's Cameo In Jailer

In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Nelson spoke about the cameos that Jailer featured including Mohanlal from Malayalam, Shiva Rajkumar from Kannada, and Jackie Shroff from Bollywood. When he was quizzed about why a Telugu superstar wasn't cast, he mentioned, "There was a plan for Balakrishna sir cameo as a deadly attacking cop. But I couldn't properly complete his arc, starting and ending. I felt it was not powerful enough for him, so it didn't work out. But maybe in future."

Jailer Cast

The movie stars Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be seen in the role of Mathew, and Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha. Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff is also a part of the film's cast. In addition, the movie stars Sunil, Ramya Krishnan as Muthuvel's wife, Vinayakan as the antagonist, Mirnaa Menon, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Naga Babu, Kishore, and Tamannaah in key roles.

Jailer Crew

Kalanithi Maran bankrolled the movie under the Sun Pictures banner. Vijay Kartik Kannan cranked the camera while R Nirmal worked as the film's editor. The budget for Jailer is around Rs 200 Crore.
