The 83-year-old veteran singer, who was awarded the Kalaimamani award by the Tamil Nadu government, has recently hit the news for making comments on the song.
LR Eswari was one of the leading singers of the 60's- 90's period and sang several remarkable songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Tulu, and English. Back then, the item songs which were part of every other film had successful tracks sung by LR Eswari.
During an interaction with a YouTube channel, LR Eswari was asked to give her two cents about the most popular item song-which was renamed as a special song-'Oo Antava'. Replying to the same, the disappointed veteran was quoted saying, "Had I sung the song, the range of it would've changed entirely. I didn't like the song. What would the new coming children (singers) know? Music directors had to look into it and make them sing perfectly," said LR Eswari.
She further added, "the olden days were different. There was a reason why our songs remained classics and remarkable even to date."
Some of the notable works of LR Eswari in Telugu are 'Masaka Masaka Cheekatilo', 'Teesko Kokokola', 'Le Le Le Na Raaja', and 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoy' among several others.
