Naga Chaitanya On Divorce From Samantha: 'Been A Year Since We Got Legally Divorced But We Don't...'
Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were once the most loved and highly looked-up to couples in Tollywood. Unfortunately, the duo didn't last for at least four full years before getting legally divorced.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya started on a solid base of friendship before dating and tying the knot in 2017. The duo announced separation two days before their fourth wedding anniversary in 2021.
Speaking to a news channel as part of promoting his latest cop thriller titled 'Custody' Naga Chaitanya tried to answer the questions about his separation and legal divorce from Samantha. He said, "I want Samantha to be happy. It has been about two years since we got separated and a year since our legal divorce. People always ask me questions about my personal life, and I try to avoid answering it," said Chaitanya.
Naga Chaitanya Opens Up About Divorce
The eldest son of Nagarjuna, half-brother to Akhil Akkineni, Chaitanya further said, "Amid our separation, the rumors that came up were disappointing. The entire scenario was projected as if we both don't respect each other. On the other hand, a person who is not involved with my past was dragged into the issue, which is nothing but disrespect to that person."
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha remained almost tight-lipped about their divorce. Although they were expected to continue as a power couple, their separation came as a shocker to their fans and followers. They put out a message on their social media handles about their divorce. They said, they had a solid base of a decade old friendship which they continue to cherish.
However, Samantha often spills some beans although indirectly suggesting that Naga Chaitanya might have cheated on her. During Shaakuntalam's promotions, Samantha said, "I gave my all and 100 percent to marriage. I didn't work out and it is not my fault."
Custody
Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya's first Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, is set to hit the screens on May 12. The movie stars Krithi Shetty, Arvind Swami, and R Sarathkumar among others in key roles.
Samantha's Work Front
The actress who is going all bold post her liberation from marriage will be seen alongside Vijay Deverakonda in Shiva Nirvana's Kushi. Also, she is part of the much-talked-about series Citadel.
