Mani Ratnam's magnum opus film, Ponniyin Selvan's sequel hit the screens on April 28 to a thumping response at the box office. The movie earned more than Rs 100 Crore within two days of its theatrical release.

Unlike its part 1, the sequel has earned a positive word-of-mouth in the Telugu speaking states, which made the movie a unanimous success.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Story

Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's literary work by the same name, Ponniyin Selvan charts the journey of the Chola King Arunmozhi Varman, who later on was remembered as the Raja Raja Chola. The first part dealt with the introduction of the key characters and how Arunmozhi Varman is saved by a mysterious woman named 'Vooma Rani.'

The sequel will unfold events as Arunmozhi Varman continues on his journey to become the King; Nandini's plan to avenge Aditya Karikalan, the backstory of Vooma Rani, etc.
