Samantha REACTS To Shaakuntalam Failure; Shares A Cryptic Post On Instagram! Check It Out HERE
Samantha Ruth Prabhu hit the screens with a mythological love story titled Shaakuntalam, under the direction of Gunasekhar. The movie went on to become one of the biggest disasters in the actress's career.
Samantha had managed to impress in the role of a enthusiastic and brave cop in Yashoda, her first female-centric pan-India film but for Shaakuntalam, everything went haywire. For several reasons, Shaakuntalam, which was made on a whopping budget of about Rs 50 Crore, remained a debacle. Within four days of its theatrical release, the movie failed to earn Rs 10 Crore.
In addition to the film's failure, Samantha was criticized for her looks and performance in the role of Shaakuntalam. Many opined she was unfit for playing Shakuntala. After negative reviews started pouring in for Shaakuntalam following the preview, Samantha refrained from promoting the movie.
Samantha flew down to London along with director duo Raj and DK for the shooting of an action thriller web series titled 'Citadel.' She posted a set of images from her travel.
Meanwhile, the actress shared a cryptic post on her Instagram, which can be assumed as her reaction to Shaakuntalam's failure.

The
caption
reads:
"Karmanye
vadhuka
raste.
Ma

kadachana.
Ma

bhuh.
Ma

karmani."
The
Sakskrit
sloka
loosely
translates
to:
"Perform
your
duty
but
do
not
have
any
expectation
of
the
fruits."
As
the
Shaakuntalam
actress
moved
on
to
a
new
project,
it
seems
she
has
also
come
to
terms
with
the
failure
of
Shaakuntalam
at
the
box
office.
The
box
office
collections
too,
dwindled
as
the
days
passed.
It can be understood that Samantha attributes the sloka to the outcome of Shaakuntalam. Samantha has put maximum efforts into making of Shaakuntalam.
Samantha's Work Front
Samantha will be seen in Citadel next. For the same, the unit shot in Kashmir, and Nainital so far. Also after the London schedule, the team will move to South Africa for another schedule. Varun Dhawan is also part of Citadel.
She is also working on 'Khushi' a Shiva Nirvana directorial, in which she is cast opposite Vijay Deverakonda.
