Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Epic Fantasy Movie Shaakuntalam Release Postponed Again! Here's What We Know!
The movie, which was scheduled to hit the screens all over the world on February 17, after several delays, once again got postponed due to unknown reasons.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu's much-awaited epic fantasy drama, Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar, based on the literary work of Kalidasa, is now in news with a disappointing update for the fans of the bubbly actress. The movie, which was scheduled to hit the screens all over the world on February 17, after several delays, once again got postponed due to unknown reasons.
In regard to the same, the movie unit, headed by Dil Raju's Sree Venkateswara Creations and Gunasekhar-Neelima Guna's Gunaa Teamworks, announced a statement on the internet through social media that they are postponing the release of the mythological love story. The movie will release in all major southern languages and will also have a release in Hindi, owing to the actress's fame in the Hindi-speaking belt.
The movie depicts the love story of Shakuntala and Dushyantha, as written by Kalidasa in his book Shaakuntalam. Samantha is playing the role of Shakuntala while Malayalam actor Dev Mohan is cast for the role of Dushyantha, marking his Tollywood debut. The movie also contains a plethora of renowned actors in key roles such as Prakash Raj, Manchu Mohan Babu, Gautami Tadimalla, Madhoo, Jisshu Sengupta, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Kabir Duhan Singh etc.
Actresses like Aditi Balan (Aruvi fame), Ananya Nagalla, Varshini Sounderajan are also part of the film that has music and background score by Mani Sharma.
The film's cinematography was handled by Sekhar V Joseph. Prawin Pudi worked as its editor. Further update on its release date is awaited.
