Shaakuntalam Day 2 Box Office Collection Worldwide: Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Fantasy Love Saga Falls Flat!

Shaakuntalam, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the titular role hit the screens on April 14. Upon its theatrical release, Shaakuntalam was met with negative reviews. The makers organized a preview show for enthusiastic viewers four days before its release, which highly affected the opening collections. Samantha too refrained from promoting the movie thereafter citing her health condition.

Shaakuntalam is based on the literary work of Kalidasa based on 'Abhignana Saakunthalam.' This is one of the epic tales of Mahabharatha. Sakunthala and Dushyantha fall in love at first sight and get married in a Gandharva-style wedding. A pregnant Sakunthala then sets off to find Dushyantha, seeking her place. What happens next is all about Saakunthalam.

The periodic fantasy tale stars Malayalam actor Dev Mohan in the role of Dushyanta, making his Telugu debut. Manchu Mohan Babu is playing Durvasa Maharishi, and Sachin Khedekar will be seen in the role of Kanva Maharishi. Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla played the roles of Priyamvada and Anasuya in the movie. Prakash Raj can be seen playing Sarangi's character. Gautami Tadimalla plays Gautami, and Madhoo will be seen as Apsara Menaka. Kabir Bedi is cast as Kashyapa Maharishi and Jisshnu Sengupta as Indra Deva. Kabir Duhan Singh is seen as King Asura.
