Shaakuntalam: "Samantha Can't Reclaim Her Stardom Again," Says Tollywood's Senior Producer & Director! Read On
Veteran producer-director Chittibabu, who has a say about anything and everything about the Telugu film industry, hit the headlines again. He made shocking comments on actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu over her alleged promotional strategies using her sickness and issues to gain attention around the release of Shaakuntalam.
When the interviewer asked about Samantha becoming emotional during the promotions of Shaakuntalam, he said, "It was artificial. She elaborated on what she had to undergo to become Shakuntala but that is what actors do. They have to get into the skin of the character. It is hilarious. She did this during Yashoda promotions also. All this is not proper. It doesn't garner sympathy, it draws criticism. There is no point in exposing all her issues. It is not correct. Working hard is part of your job. We have seen so many who have worked hard and gone to extreme lengths. It is the act of the actor and it is not a sacrifice. But she shouldn't play around for sympathies or promotions. It is very odd and cheap publicity."
Chittibabu said, "Samantha is how far a good choice for Shaakuntalam in the role of Shakuntala? She lost weight and her face changed. She fell sick and for every movie, she has been creating a drama. Her career has come to an end. The pictures and videos of her which surfaced on the internet while undergoing treatment were all for publicity."
"Many senior actors have taken part in film shootings with highest-grade fevers but they never told this out. For example, Allari Naresh worked hard for 'Laddu Babu,' and it was really tough. He never came out and said about it."
When Chittibabu was asked about what he feels about Samantha's career, he said, "As a heroine, she came to the fag end. She has to carry on. She is taking steps for it and it is for her good. But she shouldn't resort to such cheap tricks. She lost her charm and her stardom. She was already a successful star and saw a peak. But with sentiments, people won't watch films. Content is important," added Chittibabu.
