Samantha Ruth Prabhu's upcoming epic fantasy romantic drama titled 'Shaakuntalam' has disappointed the fans of the actor and the director as the unit postponed the theatrical release once again. Originally set for a huge all-over-the-world release on February 17, the makers announce April 14 as the new release date for the film that is based on the literary work of Kalidasa.

Samantha is rumoured to have quoted a sum of Rs 7 Crore for portraying the role of Shakuntala in the movie, but other sources claim that the actress took home Rs 3 Crore for allotting about 150 days for the film. Another piece of information claims that Samantha offered to take remuneration of Rs 2.5 Crore.
Dev Mohan as Dushyanta took home Rs 1.75 Crore. Veteran actor-producer Mohan Babu Manchu was paid Rs 1 Crore for portraying the role of Durvasa Maharshi.
'Aruvi' fame Aditi Balan played the role of Anasuya in the film and for the same, she was paid about Rs 40 Lakh. Ananya Nagalla, who rose to fame with Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's 'Vakeel Saab' took home Rs 25 Lakh for playing the role of Priyamvada.
Senior actor Prakash Raj was paid Rs 1.5 Crore and Gautami Tadimalla was given Rs 55 Lakh. Yesteryear actress Madhoo AKA Madhubala was paid Rs 25 Lakh. Sachin khedekar took home a remuneration of Rs 20 Lakh for his character in Shaakuntalam.
Mani Sharma composed the entire soundtrack and tunes for the film, which are already topping the FM Radio charts. Sekhar V Joseph cranked the camera while Prawin Pudi worked as the film's editor. Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venakteswara Creations bankrolled the film.
