Master storyteller of romantic films, writer-director Gautham Vasudev Menon's Surya Son Of Krishnan, Vaaranam Aayiram (Tamil) starring Suriya was released way back in 2008 on November 14. The movie achieved cult status over the years.

On August 4, 2023, about 15 years later, this highly successful musical album consisting of the film hit the big screens in a technologically upgraded 4K version for Telugu fans. The movie is the first dubbed movie to have a re-release in the Telugu states.

Without a doubt, Surya Son Of Krishnan will be remembered forever as one of the highly celebrated re-releases in the Telugu film industry. The Twitter platform was filled with these celebration glimpses from the theatres as the movie trended on the second day and third day of its re-release.

At a few theatres, bouncers and security personnel were deployed to ensure that the ecstatic and excited crowd cause no damage to theatre property.

Meanwhile, in Gajuwaka region, the special show of Surya Son Of Krishnan made Rs 1,88,930, a total that surpassed the first-day collections of Prabhas' Billa, Ram Charan's Orange, and Jr NTR's Simhadri re-releases.

In Hyderabad RTC X Roads, the early morning re-release shows earned a gross of about Rs 6,80,945, which is higher than Thalapathy Vijay's Vaarasudu day 1 collection which stands at Rs 5,19,160.

From the two Telugu states, the re-release of Suriya-starrer made about Rs 0.35 Crore, on its first day.
