Virupaksha: Debutant Karthik Dandu's Suspense Thriller With Sai Dharam Tej Achieves Break-Even In 4 Days Flat

Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha starrer supernatural thriller, a genre that is quite new to the Tollywood industry (as claimed by its makers), achieved break-even easily.

Directed by debutant Karthik Dandu, a disciple of visionary director Sukumar B, Virupaksha was released on April 21, all over the world. The movie marks the comeback of Sai Dharam Tej after a deadly accident and also is his first pan-India film. Virupaksha was made in Telugu but was dubbed into other four major Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The movie earned a positive response on its opening day for its content and technical aspects coupled with brilliant storytelling. Although there were a few issues like unnecessary scenes and a bit of length, the movie was unanimously voted as a successful film.

The box office collections for Virupaksha are also record-breaking. The movie made the career's highest pre-release business for the actor from the mega compound. It not only collected the highest openings for Sai Dharam Tej but also achieved break-even in just four days. It earned Rs 22 Crore worldwide within four days. Virupaksha makes for the 10th cleanest hit of Tollywood in 2023.

The story is set in the village of Rudravanam, where mysterious deaths occur after a black magic spell. People start killing themselves without reason. When the heroine gets possessed, the protagonist embarks on the mission to put an end to their miseries. But at what cost?

The movie stars Ajay, Sai Chand, Brahmaji, Rajeev Kanakala, Soniya Singh, Shyamala, Abhinav Gomatam, and Sunil among others playing crucial characters in the film.

Bhogavalli Bapineedu and BVSS Prasad produced the movie along with Sukumar B under the Sri Venkateshwara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings banner. Shyam Dutt worked as the cinematographer and Naveen Nooli worked as the Editor.
