Virupaksha, a supernatural thriller that hit the screens on April 21 to a thumping response at the theatres is now ruling the OTT platform Netflix India's space.

Written and directed by Karthik Dandu, Virupaksha marks the comeback film for Sai Dharam Tej, after his grave accident that rendered him bedridden and in a coma. The movie is a mix of several genres and it is quite an experiment in the Telugu film industry. The film's success gave rise to another talented young filmmaker from the school of Sukumar B.

Virupaksha is the story of a village called Rudravanam, in which an unknown force has been causing untimely and gruesome deaths. The villagers, with the help of a holy scripture lockdown the village for eight days and prevents everybody from stepping out of the village, post the death of a villager in the sanctum of the Rudravanam's diety.

However, a woman named Sudha who is in love with Kumar, crosses the boundary in a bid to elope with Kumar. Unfortunately, Kumar gets hit by a train and Sudha returns to the village but dies mysteriously. Meanwhile, the villagers find out that the female protagonist Nandini is the next victim. What Surya does to stop the entire happenings in the village, forms the crux of the story.

In a twist, it is then revealed in the climax that the heroine herself is bringing down the wrath on the villagers, with the help of Kumar, who is her estranged brother.

Actual Villain Is Supposed To Be Somebody Else: Karthik Dandu
