Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram and Teja Sajja's sci-fi fantasy film HanuMan were released on Friday, January 12, amid massive buzz and received positive responses from moviegoers. The clash between Guntur Kaaram and HanuMan has given an auspicious start to the new year for the Telugu box office.

Looking at Mahesh Babu's crazy fandom, box office enthusiasts are pinning high hopes on Guntur Kaaram; however, Teja Sajja's HanuMan has won hearts with its unique storytelling and VFX. Meanwhile, both films' sales are doing well in India and the US.

Guntur Kaaram is an old-school 'masala' potboiler that also features Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and Jagapathi Babu, among others. The film has made record-breaking sales in advance booking, leading to a ticket price increase in AP & Nizam.

As per reports, the masala entertainer is said to mint around Rs 50 cr in domestic market with a Rs 40 Cr share in the Telugu States on the opening day, with an overseas collection of over Rs 135 cr. Further, it is projected to earn $1.5 million (around Rs 12.5 crore) in the USA.

HanuMan box office collection

Teja Sajja starrer superhero The Telugu movie HanuMan is reported to make Rs 7.50 crore on its opening day. Helmed by Prashanth Varma, the film seemingly blends mythological with modern superhero narration. Its Telugu version is said to have 66.16% occupancy, particularly in Hyderabad.

Besides Teja, HanuMan is produced by Niranjan Reddy Kandagatla and also stars Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty, and Vinay Rai in key roles.

HanuMan is the first installment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. The film is set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, where Hanumanthu (Teja Sajja) gains superhero powers and protects his village people from evil forces.
