Is Vijay's The GOAT A Disaster In Telugu? Thalapathy Vijay, who has been hitting the screens in Telugu with his dubbed films of late, earned a decent market for theatrical rights in the two Telugu-speaking states. Reception for his films in Telugu version is also an encouraging factor for the makers and distributors who are benefitting from the theatrical business.
Thalapathy Vijay's latest movie is an action-thriller in which he played a dual role as a father and son, under the direction of the maverick filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. The movie titled 'The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) was released to a record-breaking pre-release business worldwide on September 5.
GOAT Synopsis
Gandhi (Vijay) is a successful member of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS) and is known for his terrorist mission in Kenya, under the leadership of Menon (Mohan). While in Bangkok, Gandhi finds out that his son Jeevan (Vijay) is dead and years later is shocked to see Jeevan alive and kicking in Russia. After they come home, unusual events start forcing Gandhi to uncover the truth behind Jeevan's disappearance and reappearance.
GOAT Registers Low-Key Telugu Openings
Due to the unexpected and unprecedented low-key buzz for Vijay's The GOAT movie, the openings for the movie's Telugu version are very low and not up to the mark. The theatrical business was registered at 21 Crore and the movie needs about Rs 30 Crore as per the trade analysts to achieve the safe zone with a break-even. Even before the release, GOAT's lack of buzz is a dampener for its release day collection. The distributors of the film are pinning hopes on this festival weekend for the movie to soar at the box office.

The much-hyped movie stars an ensemble cast of Vijay, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, and Ajay Raj among others in key roles.
