Telugu Films Contending For Oscars 2025 Selection: The Indian film industry made history last year by winning its first-ever Academy Award for 'Best Original Song' won by 'Naatu Naatu' from the epic 'RRR' movie. The filmmaker, SS Rajamouli made the country proud by achieving this rarest of the rare feat with Jr NTR and Ram Charan-starrer.

'Naatu Naatu' song which won India's first Oscar Award was penned by lyricist Chandrabose and MM Keeravani composed its music and score. Master Prem Rakshit shook the entire nation with his skilful choreography.

For the 2025 year's Oscar Awards event, many Indian films are vying to become an official selection. Tollywood has also produced several noteworthy films like HanuMan and Kalki 2898 AD, which are lauded by the northern part of the audiences. These particular movies also made a killing at the box office worldwide.

Three Telugu Films Contending For Selection

Prabhas' latest sensation 'Kalki 2898 AD' is one among the three films that are submitted to the Film Federation of India (FFI) for consideration. Teja Sajja-starrer Prashanth Varma's first Indian superhero film 'HanuMan' is the second one. The third film sprung a surprise. Payal Rajput's 'Mangalavaaram' movie written and directed by Ajay Bhupathi is also in consideration.

Kalki 2898 AD
National award-winning filmmaker Nag Ashwin embarked on a prestigious journey of making India's most expensive film to date, with a stellar cast who come at hefty paycheques. Titled Kalki 2898 AD, the movie stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The movie was bankrolled on about Rs 600 Crore and went on to make over Rs 1100 Crore worldwide.

Hanu-Man aka HanuMan
Written and directed by Prashanth Varma as his first PCU as an Indian superhero series set in a fictional place called Anjanadri. The movie is the first super hit of 2024 in Tollywood and stars Teja Sajja, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vinay Rai, and Amritha Aiyer in key roles. The movie was produced on a budget of Rs 40 Crore and earned about Rs 330 Crore.

Mangalavaaram
Payal Rajput, who made her Tollywood debut with 'RX 100' written and directed by Ajay Bhupathi, sizzled on the big screen with 'Mangalavaaram.' The movie is a psychological thriller which talks about female hypersexuality disorder. She killed it with her acting chops in the character of 'Sailaja.' The movie was a box office hit and earned Rs 23 Crore.
