Pakistani Film The Legend Of Maula Jatt India Release Cancelled Reason: Fawad Khan's fans in India had been eagerly awaiting the release of 'The Legend Of Maua Jatt' in India. Previously, it was said that 'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' - starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan among others - was gearing up to release in India next month (October). However, the latest report suggests, the release of the highest-grossing Pakistani film has been cancelled in India.

Why Did The Release Of Pakistani Film 'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' Get Cancelled In India?

Initially, Fawad Khan-Mahira Khan starrer highest-grossing Pakistani film 'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' was scheduled to release in cinemas in India on 2nd October 2024. Reportedly, Zee Studios had acquired the theatrical rights of the film in India.

However, the release of the film India has gotten cancelled due to the ongoing ban on Indian films in Pakistan since 2019 allegedly. Sharing the news, ANI tweeted, "Pakistani film 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' is not being permitted in cinema theatres in India. It is learnt that the decision has been taken as Indian films have not been permitted in Pakistan since 2019: Sources"

The MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) has been voicing his opinion against the release of the Pakistani film in India. As per reports, the President of MNS Cinema Wing, Ameya Khopkar, told ANI, "We will not entertain any Pakistani film or actors in India".

"This movie will not be released. If this happens, there will be a strong agitation," he added.

For those unversed, Fawad-Mahira's 'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' would have been the first release of any Pakistani film in over a decade in India.

Directed by Bilal Lashari, The Legend Of Maula Jatt is a period action-drama which is the remake of the 1979 cult-classic Pakistani film 'Maula Jatt'. Fawad's film had a theatrical release on 13th October 2022 and grossed over Rs 401 cr worldwide.
