Akhanda 2: Telangana High Court Suspends Premiere Show Price Hike; Creates Uncertainty For Release: Report

Akhanda 2, the upcoming Telugu fantasy action drama directed by Boyapati Sreenu, is set to release on December 12, 2025, following several delays and legal challenges. The film, produced by Raam Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Ishan Saksena under the banners of 14 Reels Plus and IVY Entertainment, stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Kabir Duhan Singh. It is the sequel to the 2021 film Akhanda and features music by Thaman S, cinematography by C. Ramprasad, and editing by Tammiraju.
According to CinemaExpress, earlier this week, the Telangana government had approved a hike in ticket prices for premiere shows and the first 10 days of screenings. As per the report by Sakshi, the government had allowed single-screen tickets to be increased by ₹50 and multiplex tickets by ₹100, with a special show on December 11 at 8 PM priced at ₹600.
However, in a recent development reported by Sakshi, the Telangana High Court has suspended the government order that allowed the increase in ticket prices. A lunch motion petition regarding the price hike was heard, and the court issued orders halting the increase for premiere shows. The next hearing on the matter has been scheduled for tomorrow, and the decision also raises the possibility that the special show planned for the night of December 11 may be canceled.
With regular bookings already open, it remains unclear whether refunds will be issued to ticket holders or if the new rates will come into effect starting Saturday. CinemaExpress notes that this creates uncertainty for both audiences and the producers, who were preparing for a significant turnout for the premiere screenings.
The film's theatrical release had previously faced delays due to a financial dispute between Eros International and 14 Reels Plus Entertainment, leading to a stay order from the Madras High Court. That matter has since been resolved, clearing the path for the release.
As the release is tomorrow, the focus remains on how the producers of Akhanda 2 will respond to the High Court's suspension of the ticket price hike and whether premiere shows will proceed as planned.
