Akhanda 2 Update: Nandamuri Balakrishna's Film Enters Key Phase Ahead Of September Release; Check Details

Akhanda 2 Update: Nandamuri Balakrishna's upcoming film Akhanda 2, the sequel to the 2021 action drama Akhanda, returned to the spotlight with the release of its official teaser on June 9, 2025-a day before the actor's birthday. Alongside the teaser, the makers also announced that the film will hit theaters on September 25, 2025, coinciding with the Dussehra holiday weekend.
According to a report by 123telugu, the film's latest shooting schedule began today, June 16, at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Balakrishna has reportedly joined the sets, and key scenes are expected to be filmed over the next few days.
Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the sequel continues the filmmaker's collaboration with Balakrishna. The teaser, released by the team, offers a glimpse into the kind of action-heavy narrative expected from the franchise. In the footage, Balakrishna is seen in a spiritual-themed avatar, engaged in combat against a group of armed men amid snow-covered mountainous terrain. Wielding a trident, he executes stylized stunts, including slow-motion fight choreography and gravity-defying moves.
The teaser also features a dramatic background score by composer Thaman S, who returns to score the music for the sequel. The setting and visual design appear to lean heavily on mythological and symbolic aesthetics, with apparent references to sacred locations like Mount Kailash.
While the teaser drew appreciation from sections of the actor's fan base, it also invited trolling on social media. Several users on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) criticized the over-the-top action and dialogue, with some calling the visuals exaggerated and unconvincing.
