The film, which serves as a sequel to the 2021 hit Akhanda, is directed by Boyapati Sreenu and produced by Raam Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Ishan Saksena under the banners of 14 Reels Plus and IVY Entertainment.

According to distribution sources associated with the film's overseas release, advance bookings for the US premiere shows opened recently and witnessed brisk initial sales. Reports indicate that over 7,200 tickets were sold within the first few hours of pre-sales, with premiere collections crossing the $125,000 mark in a short span. The film's grand premiere in the US is scheduled for December 11, a day ahead of its worldwide theatrical release.

The US release of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is being handled by Moksha Movies, in association with Cine Galaxy USA and Sree Vaishnavi Entertainment. The early response is being closely tracked by the trade as the film heads into its final promotional phase ahead of release.

The film was initially slated to hit theaters on December 5, 2025. However, the release was postponed following a stay order issued by the Madras High Court. The stay came after Eros International filed a petition against 14 Reels Plus Entertainment over a financial dispute. With the dues reportedly cleared, the court later granted permission for the film's release, paving the way for its revised release date of December 12, 2025.
