Telugu Celebs & Bigg Boss Former Contestants In Betting Apps Case:
The Telangana RTC MD initiated a campaign against Betting apps called 'Say No To Betting Apps.' As part of the campaign, several social media influencers and celebrities have been reported and booked for promoting these betting apps, resulting in grave scenarios for those who fell into the trap. Of late, police have cracked whip on many such promoters who are taking money to promote these apps while it is entirely illegal to do so. Among 11 influencers who are recently named in the police complaint, three of them are popular ex-Bigg Boss Telugu housemates.

Anchor Shyamala, who was part of the season 2, Vishnupriya from the recent season 8, Tasty Teja, who was part of season 7 and season 8 were among many others who received notices. In addition, television celeb, anchor Ritu Varma, upcoming actress and model Supritha (Surekhavani's daughter), among others were also booked for the same.

In response to Sajjanar's 'Say No To Betting Apps' campaign, several netizens and victims of these betting apps have reported some influencers.

The RTC MD reacted to the immense response to the campaign. He said, "I'm truly overwhelmed by the response on social media regarding betting apps. Many influencers have reached out, asking for permission to create awareness videos.

Let me be clear - you don't need my or anyone's permission to raise awareness for a good cause. If you want to make a difference, go ahead and spread the message! Together, we can fight against illegal betting promotions and protect lives. #SayNoToBettingApps, (sic)."

Popular YouTubers Harsha Sai, Localboy Nani and others were booked as several people named them in their official complaints. A person, who works as a helper at a restaurant lodged a report saying that he lost Rs 13 lakh in betting after getting influenced by Harsha Sai. Cases were booked under section 318 (4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 66-D of the Information Technology Act.

When asked the victim about his source of income, he revealed that he borrowed money from his friends, and relatives, selling away a bit of gold and borrowing from other money-lending apps. He lost Rs 13,67,300 over 12 months, as reported by other news articles.
