Chhaava Trailer Includes Lezim Dance Scene: Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer historical action drama, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, has been continuing to shake the Bollywood box office ever since its grand debut on February 14. Geetha Arts production house is bringing the movie to the Telugu audience and Chhaava Telugu is going to be released on March 7.

Chhaava is the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's son and successor Sambhaji, who took the reign to put up a brave fight with the Mughals (Aurangazeb). The movie's narration is based on the book titled 'Chhaava,' written by Shivaji Sawant. So far, Chhaava is the highest-grossing Bollywood film to date and in 2025. Against a budget of Rs 140 Crore, Chhaava already earned over Rs 645.58 Crore worldwide.

Speaking about Chhava to India Today, director Laxman Utekar said, "Everyone knows about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but no one knows about Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He had such great courage and was a great warrior, but sadly no one knows about it. During the pandemic when I read about Sambhaji Maharaj, I realised he is such a big character, and why are we not talking about his life? That's when I started writing and the idea of Chhaava came to me."

Controversial Lezim Dance

When the theatrical trailer for the original version was unveiled, historians and a section of religious groups have objected to the dance sequence due to a few reasons. Immediately, the filmmakers clarified it and removed it from the final cut. The same trailer was dubbed and released in Telugu featuring the Lezim dance scene where Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna danced together. As the movie is now going to hit the screens in Telugu, it is to be seen if the scene is included in the runtime. Check out the Telugu trailer below.
