Laxman Utekar reportedly narrated the story to Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu, who liked the story but did not want to do the project. After many years, Laxman Utekar's vision then went on the floors with Vicky Kaushal as the lead playing Sambhaji Maharaj.

Rashmika Mandanna also scored a hattrick hit with Animal, Pushpa 2 and Chhaava scoring blockbuster numbers at the box office worldwide.
