Daaku Maharaaj Pre-release Event Cancelled In Anantapur: Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest Sankranthi release, a commercial mass action drama titled Daaku Maharaaj, is going to hit the screens on January 12 worldwide amid great expectations. Written and directed by Bobby Kolli in his first-ever collaboration with NBK, the movie's theatrical trailer met with immense positive response and soared the expectations for the film manifold. However, there is a disappointing news for the veteran's fans as the pre-release event slated to take place on January 9 in Anantapur was called off.
Tirupati Stampede Kills Six Devotees; Several Injured
In an unfortunate incident that took place on June 8 at the sacred Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on January 8, as many as six devotees lost their lives with many others gravely injured. The stampede was caused due to mismanagement of the authorities at the ticket lines. Owing to the sad incident, Nandamuri Balakrishna, who is also the MLA of the Hindupur constituency, decided to call off the event after consulting the filmmakers of Daaku Maharaaj. In addition, his son-in-law, AP Minister Nara Lokesh was invited as the chief guest and given the situation, there is no way he could make it to the event.
Nandamuri Balakrishna was reportedly shown playing the role of an IAS officer who also in a disguise is the 'Daaku,' who loots from the rich for the poor. The actor shared the screen space with Urvashi Rautela, Shraddha Srinath, and Pragya Jaiswal.

Alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna in the title role, Bobby Deol is the antagonist in the movie. Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, and Chandhini Chowdary are the three female leads in the film. Urvashi Rautela sizzled in the controversial 'Dabidi Dibidi' song and in a small role. The supporting cast includes Harshavardhan, Ravi Kishan, etc.
