Empuraan Telugu Box Office Collection Day 4: Following a heavy backlash, and a series of apologies from the filmmakers as well as Mohanlal, the hyped sequel to the political thriller Lucifer, Empuraan, finally underwent heavy edits after hitting the screens on March 27 worldwide on a pan-India scale. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, the movie began as a sensation at the box office in Kerala and worldwide, especially in the Gulf countries. The makers chopped off some scenes and edited some more to silence the controversies.

Mohanlal's film underwent a minimum of 17 cuts following the protests and controversies. The movie is, however, continuing to perform rock-solid at the box office in all languages.
