Star-Driven Period Drama Opens Strong But Struggles With Reception
Hari Hara Veera Mallu's release is headlined by Pawan Kalyan in the titular role of Veera Mallu, a character set in the 17th-century Mughal era. The story revolves around his mission to retrieve the Koh-i-Noor diamond to save a city from Mughal aggression. Bobby Deol plays the role of Emperor Aurangzeb, while Nidhhi Agerwal and Sathyaraj also feature in key roles.
Directed initially by Krish Jagarlamudi and later completed under the direction of A. M. Jyothi Krishna with Jagarlamudi's supervision, the film had a lengthy production timeline. Announced in 2020, filming began in Hyderabad but was marred by multiple delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Pawan Kalyan's political commitments. The shoot finally wrapped up in May 2025.
The film's technical crew includes music by M. M. Keeravaani, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and Gnana Shekar V.S., and editing by KL Praveen. Action sequences were choreographed by a team of well-known stunt coordinators, including Peter Hein, Ram-Laxman, and Todor Lazarov.
Despite its strong start, the film's sharp dip on Day 2 suggests fluctuating word-of-mouth and audience interest. Industry observers are now keenly watching how the film performs through the rest of the weekend and into the weekdays to gauge its box office trajectory and long-term prospects.
With Sunday's performance yet to be accounted for, the film's complete weekend collection will offer a clearer picture of its hold on audiences and whether it can maintain momentum in the days ahead.
