Kannappa OTT Release: When Will The Movie Have Its Digital Premiere? Here's What Vishnu Manchu Said

Kannappa OTT Vishnu Manchu Reveals Streaming Plan

Kannappa OTT Release: Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, the Telugu mythological action drama based on a revered folk legend, opened in cinemas worldwide on June 27, 2025. As the film begins its theatrical journey, questions have already surfaced about its digital release timeline. Addressing this, lead actor and key creative force behind the project, Vishnu Manchu, confirmed that Kannappa will not be available on any streaming platform for at least 10 weeks following its theatrical debut.

Speaking at a recent media interaction held as part of the film's promotional activities, Vishnu clarified, "I have a very, very large freedom. My movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks; that is the deal I have. So I don't have that OTT release pressure, and I want to show the audience the best in theaters-that is what we aimed at."

This means the film will remain exclusive to cinemas for a substantial period before any potential OTT release, unlike many recent films that have opted for early streaming deals. This move appears to align with the team's focus on a large-screen experience, given the scale and visual ambition of the project.

Kannappa Rolls Out in Theaters With Multilingual Release

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu under the banners of Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment, Kannappa is a retelling of the story of a tribal hunter who becomes a devout follower of Lord Shiva. The plot follows the transformation of the central character, known for his extreme act of devotion-offering his eyes to the deity.

The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, supported by a large ensemble including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Preity Mukhundhan, and others. Special appearances by Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal have also added to its pan-Indian appeal.

Filming began in New Zealand in September 2023. The technical team includes cinematographer Sheldon Chau, editor Anthony Gonsalvez, and music composer Stephen Devassy. The background score and sound mixing were completed at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, with Dolby Atmos enhancements included in the final mix.

Kannappa is being released in Telugu along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English, targeting a wide audience across linguistic regions. While the film now begins its box office run in India and abroad, digital streaming viewers will have to wait until at least 10 weeks to watch it online.
