Kannappa Pre-release Event Cancelled: Trailer Launch Deferred After Ahmedabad Plane Crash

Vishnu Manchu s Kannappa Pre-release Event Cancelled

Kannappa Pre-release Event Cancelled: The pre-release event and trailer launch of the upcoming Telugu film Kannappa, which was scheduled to take place today in Indore, has been cancelled. The trailer release, initially set for June 13, has also been postponed by a day. The decisions come in the aftermath of a tragic aviation disaster that has left the nation grieving.

The country was rocked by the news of an Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon. The aircraft, which was en route to London, reportedly crashed during takeoff. With 242 passengers on board, reports suggest that only one person survived the incident. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

In light of the tragedy, actor-producer Vishnu Manchu, who plays the lead role in Kannappa, announced the cancellation and postponement through a social media post late Thursday evening.

"My heart breaks for the lives lost in today's Ahmedabad Air India crash. In deep mourning, we're deferring the #Kanappa trailer release by one day and canceling tomorrow's Indore pre‑release event. My prayers are with the families during this unimaginably difficult time," he wrote.

Kannappa: A Mythological Drama Headlined by Vishnu Manchu

Kannappa is a high-profile Telugu fantasy film based on the mythological story of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by veteran actor Mohan Babu under the banners of Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment. Vishnu Manchu not only stars in the titular role but has also contributed to the story and screenplay.

The ensemble cast includes Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, and others. The film includes cameo appearances by prominent actors, including Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar-marking his debut in Telugu cinema-and Kajal Aggarwal.

Production on the film began in late 2023, with the team shooting extensively in New Zealand. The music is composed by Stephen Devassy, with cinematography by Sheldon Chau and editing by Anthony Gonsalvez.

While the trailer release has only been delayed by a day, it remains to be seen whether a new date for the pre-release event will be announced. For now, the makers and cast have chosen to stand in solidarity with the grieving families affected by the crash.

Further updates on the trailer launch and promotional events for Kannappa are expected to be shared in the coming days.
