Akshay Kumar Opens Up About Rejecting Kannappa TWICE: Vishnu Manchu's production, his prestigious and larger-than-life fantasy drama titled 'Kannappa,' is hitting the big screens this summer. Starring a plethora of talented and veteran actors from Bollywood, Sandalwood, Kollywood, and Tollywood, the movie will be out in multiple languages marking Vishnu Manchu's pan-India debut on April 25. The Hindi teaser was released on February 27 in Mumbai for the media exclusively. The teaser will release online for the public on March 1.
Akshay Kumar In Kannappa
Akshay Kumar played the role of Lord Shiva in the movie with Prabhas playing Rudra in the Telugu version. At the media event, Akshay Kumar revealed that he rejected the role twice and the reason. Vishnu Manchu also agreed to have moved some contacts to get Akshay Kumar onboard for his most hyped film. Speaking about it, Akshay Kumar said, "Initially, I wasn't sure and even declined the offer twice. But Vishnu's unwavering conviction that I was the right choice for this role convinced me. The story is powerful and deeply moving, and the film has turned out to be a visual spectacle."
Kannappa Premise
Kannappa is a period fantasy action drama about the life of Thinnadu, a non-believer and a hunter in the wild. An incident works like magic on him, making him an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He grows to an extent where he pulls out his eyeballs in pure devotion. Vishnu Manchu is playing the title role and the movie is being made on a budget of Rs 200 Crore. Mukesh Kumar Singh is the film's director. Paruchuri Gopalakrishna and G Eshwar Reddy wrote the film's story along with Vishnu Manchu.

The fantasy action drama stars Vishnu Manchu as Thinnadu, Mohan Babu as Mahadeva Shastri, R Sarathkumar as Nathanathudu, Madhoo as Pannaga, Mukesh Rishi as Kampadu, Brahmaji as Gavvaraju, Karunas as Veera, Brahmanandam as Pilaka, Raghu Babu, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran, Preity Mukkhundhan, Devaraj as Mundadu, Lavi Pajni as Bebbuli, Siva Balaji, Achyuth Kumar, Arpit Ranka, Sampath Ram, Saurav Lokesh, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Surekha Vani, and Saptagiri among others played important roles. In addition, Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Shiva, and Mohanlal as Kirata played cameos.
Helmed under the banners AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, the movie's entire music and score was composed by Stephen Devassy. Anthony worked as the film's editor and Sheldon Chau cranked the camera.
