Directed and written by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom marks a return to the big screen for the filmmaker, who is known for previous projects such as Malli Raava and Jersey. Initially referred to as VD12, the film's official title, Kingdom, was publicly confirmed in February 2025 following its earlier announcement in January 2023. The production is led by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, with Srikara Studios also associated with the project.

Kingdom is designed as the first part of a planned duology and features Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role, alongside Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse. According to reports, principal photography began in June 2023, with schedules held across several locations, including Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Sri Lanka, and Kerala. Shooting was delayed at times due to Vijay Deverakonda's prior commitments and a minor on-set injury in November 2024. Filming had reached near completion by early January 2025, according to available updates at the time.
