Kota Srinivasa Rao Funeral: The final rites of veteran Telugu actor and former legislator Kota Srinivasa Rao are scheduled to take place today, July 13, in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The actor, who was 83, passed away in the early hours of the morning due to age-related illness, marking the end of a decades-long career that spanned over 750 films across several Indian languages.
According to Big TV Live, Kota's mortal remains will be moved from his residence to Mahaprasthanam, where the funeral ceremony will be conducted by his family. As per the report, his body will be placed for public viewing at 12:30 PM, giving fans and well-wishers an opportunity to pay their last respects. The cremation is expected to take place at 2:00 PM.
Kota Srinivasa Rao, who began his acting career in 1978 with Pranam Khareedu, went on to become one of the most recognizable faces in Telugu cinema. Known for his versatility, he portrayed a wide range of roles, including villains, comic characters, and other supporting parts. He built a legacy through consistently notable portrayals in diverse roles.
Industry Bids Farewell to Senior Actor
His passing has deeply impacted both fans and colleagues. In the hours following the announcement of his death, several actors and industry figures visited his home to offer condolences to the family. As reported by Big TV Live, celebrities such as Babu Mohan, Rajendra Prasad, and Brahmanandam were among the first to arrive, visibly emotional as they remembered their long association with the late actor.
Srinivasa Rao had gradually withdrawn from active film work in recent years due to health complications. His final onscreen appearances were in the films Suvarna Sundari, Dochevarevarura, and Kabzaa, released in 2023.
A former MLA, Kota Srinivasa Rao continued to engage with the public through interviews and media appearances until recently, despite his declining health. His sudden demise has come as a shock to many who had seen him active just weeks ago.
The actor is survived by his wife and two daughters. His only son, who had also briefly entered the film industry, passed away in a tragic road accident in 2010.
Today's funeral marks the end of a significant chapter in Telugu cinema.
