Kuberaa Box Office Collection Day 1: Dhanush And Nagarjuna's Film Sees Strong Start - But Did It Beat Raayan?

Dhanush And Nagarjuna s Kuberaa Box Office Collection Day 1

Kuberaa Box Office Collection: Sekhar Kammula's bilingual crime drama Kuberaa, starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna in the lead roles, opened in cinemas worldwide on June 20, 2025. Backed by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the film began its theatrical run with a solid performance at the Indian box office, collecting an estimated ₹13 crore net across all languages on its opening day, according to early figures reported by box office tracker Sacnilk.

Meanwhile, if the early estimates hold true, it didn't surpass the opening day India collection of Dhanush's previous film, Raayan, which, according to Sacnilk, earned ₹13.65 crore on Day 1 (1st Friday).

Bilingual Crime Drama Opens Amid Strong Pre-release Buzz

Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, Kuberaa marks a significant pan-Indian collaboration. The film's ensemble cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil in pivotal roles. Principal photography was carried out in Hyderabad and Mumbai between February and April 2024. Initially known by its working title, D51, a nod to Dhanush's 51st film, the project was officially titled Kubera in March 2024, later modified to Kuberaa closer to release.

The narrative reportedly revolves around themes of crime, power, and personal transformation. Dhanush plays Deva, while Nagarjuna appears as Deepak, with Rashmika portraying Sameera. Jim Sarbh takes on the role of Neeraj, adding a layer of complexity to the story. While the filmmakers have remained tight-lipped about the plot, the pre-release campaign-including a high-profile event held in Hyderabad on June 15-generated considerable curiosity. Notably, director S. S. Rajamouli was present as the chief guest at the event and unveiled the trailer.

The film features music by Devi Sri Prasad, who has previously collaborated with Dhanush but is working with Sekhar Kammula for the first time. Other key crew members include cinematographer Niketh Bommireddy, editor Karthika Srinivas, and production designer Thota Tharani.

Despite facing competition from other theatrical releases, Kuberaa appears to have benefitted from the combined star power of its cast and the pre-release buzz. Whether the film sustains its momentum over the weekend remains to be seen. The coming days will provide a clearer picture of its box office trajectory and audience reception.
