Mohan Babu Named In Complaint Over Actress Soundarya’s Death And Alleged Land Dispute

Complaint Filed Against Mohan Babu Alleging Link To Soundarya's Death: Two decades after the tragic demise of actress Soundarya, a police complaint has been filed in the Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh, alleging that her death was not accidental but linked to a land dispute involving veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu.
Soundarya, a celebrated actress in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam cinema, lost her life in a plane crash along with her brother on April 17, 2004, in Bengaluru. At the time of her death, she was reportedly pregnant and traveling to Karimnagar for a political event.
According to a report by News18 Kannada, a complainant named Chittimallu has alleged that Mohan Babu pressured Soundarya and her brother to sell six acres of land in Jalpalli village, Shamshabad. However, they reportedly refused, leading to tensions between the parties. The complaint claims that after Soundarya's passing, Mohan Babu took possession of the disputed land.
The complainant has submitted his plea to both the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and the District Officer in Khammam, requesting that the land be seized and repurposed for public welfare, such as facilities for orphans, military families, police personnel, and journalists. He has also urged authorities to investigate Mohan Babu's alleged involvement in land matters and has sought police protection, citing personal safety concerns.
Despite these claims, NDTV reports that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case so far. Additionally, the complainant's connection to Soundarya and her family remains unclear.
The complaint also references a long-standing dispute within the Manchu family involving Mohan Babu and his younger son, Manchu Manoj. Previously, tensions between the two had surfaced in public, and in one instance, Mohan Babu was seen in a viral video allegedly confronting a journalist at his residence. However, his elder son, Manchu Vishnu, had later downplayed the incident, calling it a family matter.

Soundarya's death remains a significant event in South Indian cinema history. Having received multiple accolades, including three Nandi Awards and a National Film Award as a producer for the Kannada film Dweepa, she was a highly regarded actress at the time of her passing.
