Suriya's Next With Venky Atluri Official? Kollywood superstar Suriya is extensively promoting the hyped period romantic action film titled Retro, which is hitting the screens on a grand scale on May 1. The movie written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj has Pooja Hegde as the female lead and Santhosh Narayanan as its music composer. The movie 'Retro' is having a pan-India release in multiple languages and the Telugu pre-release event was organized in Hyderabad on April 26. Suriya flew down from Chennai to meet his Telugu fans and Vijay Deverakonda attended the event as a guest.

Speaking at the Retro pre-release event in Hyderabad today (April 26), Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, a young and one of the highly successful Tollywood producers, spoke more than necessary, about the hyped collaboration. Much to the embarrassment of Suriya and Venky Atluri, an ecstatic Naga Vamsi couldn't wait but officially announce the movie without using the word. He said, "My brother Venky is also here sir. We know what we are doing in the next month. I don't want to tell it to the audience now I want you to tell it now. Very happy to be associated before our film starts sir, Thank You." Young filmmaker Venky Atluri is on a roll and top of the game with back-to-back hits with superstars like Dhanush- 'Sir' aka 'Vaathi' and 'Lucky Bhaskar' with Dulquer Salmaan. His upcoming is now confirmed with Suriya, which will push him further into the league of mainstream and top-rated directors of the South and Tollywood. He is currently involved in the pre-production works and finalization of the script.

Retro Premise
The movie is about a strong-headed protagonist, a former gangster, who tries to leave the past behind and live a peaceful life with his wife. However, his past comes haunting.

Retro movie stars Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Nassar, Joju George, Jayaram, Sujith Shankar, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Prem Kumar, Uday Mahesh, Sandeep Raj, Nandita Das, Remya Suresh, George Maryan, and Karunakaran among others in key roles. Shriya Saran shot for a special song in the film.

Bankrolled jointly by Suriya's 2D Productions and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films banners, the movie Retro's cinematography was handled by Shreyaas Krishna. Shafique Mohamed Ali worked as the film's editor.
