The movie is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical debut on February 7 and the movie's theatrical trailer was released recently.

Thandel is a crucial film for Naga Chaitanya, who is yet to taste a massive success in his career. The actor collaborated with Sai Pallavi for the second time after 'Love Story' and Thandel was made on a bigger budget, considering the actor's market in Tollywood. The movie is based on a real-life incident that happened in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. A fisherman who crosses the border and enters international waters is arrested by Pakistan forces. His life and love, his courageous fight to return home, is all about Thandel.

For Thandel movie, Allu Aravind spent Rs 85 Crore, the highest for a Naga Chaitanya-led project. Reportedly, the digital, satellite, and Hindi distribution rights recovered about Rs 50 Crore already and the rest is supposed to come from the theatrical business & what comes from the box office after its release is the profit.
