Tollywood Celebs Booked For Betting Apps Promotion; Cases Filed: In continuation to the ongoing strike on actors, celebrities, and social media influencers for promoting various illegal betting apps, the latest to join the list is none other than Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, Manchu Lakshmi, Prakash Raj, and Nidhhi Agerwal. As per the latest update, the Miyapur police registered a complaint on the above-mentioned Tollywood actors for persuading their followers and fans to gamble with these apps.

The Miyapaur police registered complaints from various individuals who named the celebrities- which app they promoted and how- who were about a total of 25 including the sensational names of Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati.
These celebrities have promoted multiple illegal apps through pop-up advertisements and direct promotional videos. Police sent notices to these celebrities regarding the case.

Police Question The Accused

Two days ago, when Vishnupriya, Anchor Shyamala, Tasty Teja, and Supritha along with a bunch of other social media influencers were booked, many influencers started coming up with apology videos through their channels confessing that they promoted them without the right knowledge.

On behalf of Vishnupriya, Bigg Boss Telugu 8 ex-housemate Shekar Basha attended the questioning at the Punjagutta police station but on March 20, Vishnupriya herself appeared before the police.

Harsha Sai, Imran Khan, Sunny Yadav, Bigg Boss Telugu 7 winner Pallavi Prashanth, and Local Boi Nani have already been questioned and are continuing to face the heat. In addition to this ruckus, popular YouTube Anvesh is coming up with new videos every day talking about how he urged all these YouTubers to stop promoting betting apps. He gave an account of the same and showcased call recordings, text messages, and voice recordings with the accused.

The police are likely to question Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, and Vijay Deverakonda in private as we await more details about the development. Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda's Public Relations team issued a clarification in this regard. The statement says, His endorsement was strictly confined to regions and territories where online skill-based games are legally permitted. Honourable Supreme Court of India has repeatedly recognized online games such as rummy as distinct from gambling or gaming. It has been mentioned explicitly that the A23 platform involves skill rather than chance, making it legally permissible.

Vijay entered into the agreement with A23 after his legal team ensured his association aligned with the law standards. Vijay Deverakonda's endorsement term ended in 2023 and he is no longer associated with the brand."

Telangana RTC MD Sajjanar's Call To 'Say No To Betting'

The TSRTC RTC MD called upon the netizens, social media influencers, and celebrities to promote awareness on the grave situations that one could face due to online betting. Reportedly, in the last couple of years, about 1800 deaths caused due to suicides came to life after the deceased confessed to have sunk into a massive debt due to betting. Many educated and employed youngsters, job holders have killed their families before committing suicide due to the fear of debt.

Sajjanar said, "I'm truly overwhelmed by the response on social media regarding betting apps. Many influencers have reached out, asking for permission to create awareness videos.

Let me be clear - you don't need my or anyone's permission to raise awareness for a good cause. If you want to make a difference, go ahead and spread the message! Together, we can fight against illegal betting promotions and protect lives. #SayNoToBettingApps, (sic)."
