In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat Assistant Editor Abhishek Ranjit over a cup of coffee, she spoke about the overwhelming love she has received from the Telugu industry. The Bigg Boss 15 contestant got candid about the challenges of performing in a new language, and shared why MRP is the perfect beginning to her journey on the big screen.

Here are excerpts from the interview-

Q. Congratulations on your first Telugu film MRP. What inspired you to take on this project and what excited you most about making your Telugu debut?

Donal Bisht: Thank you. What inspired me was simply my love for cinema. I've done television and have seen myself on those screens, but the 70 mm screen is truly larger than life. Every actor dreams of seeing themselves there, and when I saw myself on the big screen for the first time, it felt nostalgic and incredibly special.

I always believe in stepping out of my comfort zone and challenging myself. I didn't want to look back one day and regret that I never even tried films. So I took the leap, and I'm happy it happened.

What excited me the most was the love and acceptance I received from Telugu cinema. The team wanted me to be a part of this film, I loved the script, and I genuinely felt welcomed. That warmth from the South film industry made this journey even more special.

Q. How would you describe your character in MRP? What was the biggest challenge while playing the role?

Donal Bisht: I play a strong girl who stands by the hero throughout the story. She's someone who supports him and helps him navigate difficult situations. It's a comedy thriller, and my character plays an important role in how the story unfolds.

The biggest challenge was definitely the language. Telugu is a very fast language with difficult pronunciations. But everyone on set helped me immensely. They worked with me on every dialogue until I got it right. It was almost like I was hearing the words and immediately delivering them without a pause. It was challenging but also a wonderful learning experience.

Q. MRP is a comedy thriller. What can audiences expect from this unique combination?

Donal Bisht: Audiences can expect a lot of laughter, happiness and excitement. While shooting, I noticed something interesting. Even after multiple takes of the same comedy scene, the cast and crew kept laughing just as much as they did during the first take. That gave me a lot of confidence that the humour genuinely works.

Comedy thrillers are quite rare, and that's one of the reasons I chose this film. The script is beautifully written, the direction is excellent, and the way the thriller unfolds keeps you engaged throughout. I think audiences are really going to enjoy this blend.

Q. The pre-release event in Hyderabad received an overwhelming response. How did that make you feel?

Donal Bisht: It felt amazing. Watching so many people appreciate and support our film was overwhelming. Even though this is my first Telugu film, many people already knew me because of my television and web work.

Being accepted by a completely new audience feels very special. I feel fortunate and blessed that I've continued receiving so much love throughout my career. Now that I'm entering Telugu cinema, I hope that love only multiplies. I'm filled with gratitude for everyone who has supported me.

Q. Looking back at television, web shows and Bigg Boss, how have those experiences shaped you as an actor?

Donal Bisht: They've shaped me tremendously. Every platform I've worked on has added something valuable to my journey. All those experiences have made me stronger, more mature and better prepared for films.

I believe every experience builds your foundation. Now, as I step into cinema, I'm bringing everything I've learned over the years with me. I hope audiences continue to love me here just as they have in television and other platforms.

Q. You have often chosen roles that challenge you. What do you look for before saying yes to a project?

Donal Bisht: I believe it's always a two-way process. You choose a project, and sometimes the project chooses you too. Everything falls into place when it's meant to happen.

With MRP, everything felt right. The team was wonderful, the story was strong, my character had depth, and I even loved the songs they shared before signing me. I felt this was the perfect project to begin my film journey, and I'm glad destiny brought us together.

Q. Finally, what would you like to say to your fans who have waited so long to see you on the big screen?

Donal Bisht: Thank you so much for your patience. I know many of you wanted to see me in films ever since my television days. Sometimes good things take time, and this was one of them.

I'm happy that I could finally fulfil what my audience had been waiting for. This is just the beginning, and I hope my fans and the industry continue showering me with love. I promise to reciprocate that love through my work and by always remaining the person I am. Thank you so much.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to Donal Bisht for her new journey and hope she continues to woo the audience with her charm.
