Peddi presents Ram Charan as an athlete linked to several different sports, rather than one field. The narrative moves through rural landscapes and small towns. It focuses on how local talent grows when given proper backing. Janhvi Kapoor, Divyenndu and Boman Irani play key roles, while Buchi Babu Sana directs the film.

Ram Charan sports drama and Modi ji’s story on rural talent

Ram Charan spoke about discussing Peddi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a previous visit to Delhi. Ram Charan said, "The last time I met our Honorable Prime Minister Modi ji in Delhi, he asked me what Peddi was about. I told him it's about an evolved India and empowering our villages. Modi ji then shared a story from West Bengal, where decades ago a footballer from a small village represented India, and today over 85 people from that same village play football," he said.

The story shared by Modi ji linked directly to the themes of Peddi. Ram Charan highlighted how a single sportsperson from a small West Bengal village once played for India. According to Modi ji, more than 85 people from that village now play football. Ram Charan connected this account with the film’s focus on village empowerment through sport.

Ram Charan On Rooted South Indian Cinema

At a recent public event, Ram Charan discussed how South Indian films are shifting towards stories from the countryside. Ram Charan stated, "The films we are making in the South today are deeply rooted to our culture and soil. They are not city-based, but set in villages and towns. Our archery team in India has many tribal players because they naturally possess that talent. It's beautiful when such talent from villages gets recognised." Ram Charan linked this trend with the approach taken in Peddi.

Ram Charan also pointed to real-life sports as a reference for Peddi. Ram Charan mentioned India’s archery squad, where many competitors come from tribal communities. According to Ram Charan, such examples show how natural skill often grows outside big cities. The film uses this idea to portray a more confident, evolving India that values its rural roots.

Through Peddi, Ram Charan aims to combine a sports narrative with a portrait of rural India. The film’s trailer, the conversation with Modi ji and comments on South cinema all point to one theme. Peddi seeks to show how local talent, especially from villages, can grow when recognised and supported.
