Gopichand, son of late director T Krishna, made his debut and didn't turn too many heads. He followed that up with two negative role in his next two films and proved that he could act well. He followed that up with Yagnam after which he only rose. His next film Ranam, Andhrudu and Okkadunadu were hits.

Lakshyam's director Srivas started out as a cameraman in Annamayya. He has made a remarkable debut with the film. He took up a very good script. The role that the script demanded suited Gopichand's body language very well. Producer Nallamalupu Srinivas has done well to take up this film.

Story:

Chandu (Gopichand) is an angry young man. He had a very pleasant family consisting of his father (Kota Srinivasa Rao), mother, elder brother Bose (Jagapati Babu), sister-in-law (Kalyani) and niece Pinky (Baby Kalki Mitra). Bose is a very sincere police officer and always sees that justice is done. Section Shankar (Yashpal Sharma) is a goon who is known his rowdy activities. He has extorted crores of rupees from his victims. DCP is his right hand man.

The reason why Section Shankar hasn't been caught yet is because he leaves no trace at his crime scenes. Indu is the daughter of millionaire. At college, she meets Chandu. Over time, they start to fall in love with each other. Chandu has friend Shafi (Amit) who is well known for playing pranks on people with his own handmade electronic toys.

Section Shankar, using his influence gets a loan of Rs. 100 crore from a bank. He threatens to bank chairman and gets the loan. Chandu gets wind of this and starts working at getting him caught. After realizing this, the chairman of the Bank demands that Shankar returns the money. Section Shankar then kills the Bank chairman with Shafi's help. In return for this favour, Shafi asks that Shankar help him winning Indu's heart. Shafi fell in love with her when he first met her.

Shankar kidnaps Indu but is followed by Chandu. Once they know that their Bank chairman is dead, the bank employees protest. Bose, in his efforts to find out what happened, takes the bank manager for interrogation. Shafi, Shankar and DCP come together and kill Bose in fear that the truth will be told.

Chandu realizes this and tries to save Bose but the goon hold him back and try to burn him alive. Bose dies and tells Chandu that Shafi was the man responsible. To set everything right, Chandu approaches Shafi and gets the truth out of him. He tell him that CSP and Shankar instigated him. He then goes and gets his revenge on DCP and Shankar.

Plus Points:
The films storyline is tailor-made for Gopichand's macho look. It was a cakewalk for him. He showed that he can dance as well as he can act in the film. This film is one step up the ladder on his way to becoming a megastar in Tollywood. Actress Anushka has a glamourous role in the film. - Nothing worthy of a mention.

The villain's role played by Yashpal Sharma is ok. Brahmanandam's comedy in the film adds humour to the film. Jagapati Babu plays the cop in the film. He needs to be appreciated for his willingness to play a role of a character that dies in the end of the movie. Kalyani as usual is not very impressive, playing an impressive role nonetheless. Kota Srinivasa Rao has played their roles well. Mani Sharma's music is also good
