Rajavari Chepala Cheruvu - Review

Of corruption, politics and police…

Posani Krishna Murali is an eminent writer. He gave several hit films as a writer. Of late, he has turned a director. Though his debut film Sravana Masam failed at Box Office, he shot into fame with the success of Operation Duryodhana. However, his next film Mental Krishna was a big dud. His latest film Rajavari Chepala Cheruvu aims at highlighting the corruption and how the politicians are ruling the roost.

Though everyone thought that it would be a film with political backdrop, he proved it wrong as politics was a part of his film. He tried to prove how corruption turned a monster and tried to eat away the entire mankind.

Raja (Posani Krishna Murali) is a sub-inspector. He is very sincere in his duty and doesn"t spare anyone, whoever he is and whatever be his political influence. Once, the brother of an MLA (Shakeel Khan), turns a stalker and attacks a girl. As a result, she loses her eye sight and suffers heavy burns as boiled tar fell on her. Raja arrests the accused, as a girl (Naina) comes forward to give witness.

However, he escapes from the custody with the political influence. Raja takes the help of the media and makes the accused return to jail. Later, he threatens him and gets the accused eyes shifted to the victim. This irks the MLA. Raja reverts back all the political movies by the politicians. The MLA"s father-in-law (Kota Srinivasa Rao) also could not help him in any way. So, his daughter kills that politician to benefit her husband and make everyone believe that he committed suicide due to the humiliation by Raja.

As a result, Raja loses his job on the pretext that he was responsible for his death. After he lost his job, the MLA kidnaps Raja"s wife (Naina) and gets her aborted. Not only that he gets her womb removed to prevent further pregnancy in a revenge act of his brother"s eyes.

Now it is the turn of Raja to take revenge against the politicians. He hatches a plan with the help of the media and starts a sting operation. He meets a broker and with his help, bribes a whole lot of government officials and also the politicians and gets official sanction for a fish tank. One fine morning he starts the drama that his fish tank was kidnapped. He cries before the media that his fish tank is missing at the specified place.

The corrupt government officers, who certified that he owned land, dug a tank, released 30,000 fish and even one bank offers him Rs.2 lakh loan and also avails government subsidy as well, are quoted as the witnesses with the help of their orders and claims that it was missing at the specified place. Irked over this, the MLA, in order to pacify Raja, offers five acre land at the same village, but Raja did not accept the offer and wants his own fish tank.

On learning that Raja resorted to sting operation, the MLA disrobes Raja"s wife and gets it videographed and threatens that he would telecast it in case Raja tries to air the scenes shot with corrupt officials and MLA. However, Raja"s wife puts a bold face and comes out of house naked saying that everyone should realise how big mistake they were doing by ignoring the corruption in the society.

Finally, Raja admits in the court that he doesn"t possess even a single cent land in the village and prepared fictitious documents and swindled huge money. He questions the court, if a common man could misguide the entire official machinery, how big fraud the politicians are resorting swindling crores of rupees. He appeals to the people not to leave corrupt officials and politicians. Instead, he appeals to them to elect honest politicians.

PLUS:

Posani Krishna Murali is known for penning successful stories and powerful dialogues, once again showed his prowess by bringing out an excellent film. He excelled in his role with a serious face and his dialogues were thought-provoking. He delivered them instantaneously. Most of them are very lengthy. In fact, the film has no great story, but the movement is gripping. Of course, some scenes had no logic but the director made them believe by the audiences. Especially the powerful dialogues for the hero made the audiences sit tight to the seats.

Though a novice, debutant heroine Naina, gave a nice performance. Though the film had a whole lot of artistes, none of them got a chance to perform. However, they did justice to their roles. Another plus point in the film is the background score by Vandemataram Srinivas. The director made another great experiment by making the heroine stand nude for about 20 minutes as per the demand of the story.

MINUS:

There was a big gossip that the film was aimed at YS Rajasekhar Reddy and is a big political satire. However, the film has nothing to offer on those lines. The director chose to highlight, how corruption ruled the roost and make a mockery of the democracy. He tried to prove that anything could be done by bribing the government officials. It is absurd and he is quite wrong that everyone would be so blind to give permission without verifying the facts.

The first half of the film has nothing to do with the second half. The entire first half was devoted to claim how the police are getting demoralised with corrupt politicians. The second half was dedicated to prove how one could dupe everyone with the help of corruption. The killing of Kota Srinivasa Rao character has no justification. Giribabu"s role was also not properly established.

REMARKS:

The dialogues on police department, politics and corruption by Posani are thought-provoking. The film has nothing to offer on entertainment front as most of the film has no comedy track. Posani made use many comedians as corrupt government officials and wrapped up the film with a limited budget.

But for Posani and his dialogues, the film has nothing. If you are a serious viewer, you could watch the film and if you prefer entertainment, the film is a big 'No No". In the climax, there are a couple of dialogues hinting his parent party, 'Praja Rajyam" with an indirect reference.
