Sarayi Veerraju- Review

Director DS Kannan reportedly inspired by Aaru Kathalu penned by Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry prepared a story and chose to mould it on the celluloid. The story needed a hero, who had no image and at the same time, he should be well-known to the audiences. So, he chose Ajay, the upcoming hero and is well-known for doing small time villain roles and hero"s sidekick roles. As the story needed to be run in village backdrop, most of the film was shot in Ravulapalem village and a few scenes in foreign locales. Though for the Malayalam and Tamil audiences, the film would go well, the Telugu audiences might reject it due to heavy bloodshed in the movie.

Veerraju (Ajay) is an orphan. Dhanalakshmi (Ramya Nambeesan) also turns an orphan on the same day and they both become good friends. Dhana always used to say that she has become an orphan as everyone thinks “Why should we involve in other"s matters as they are not related to us". So, she keeps involving in others when they quarrel and settle disputes. Veerraju is so infactuated towards her that she is everything for him. However, he did not realize that he is in love with her. As Veerraju doesn"t come out open, Dhana also keeps mum.

Will their love be known to each other or will they marry anyone else??. What happens in the climax is the suspense in the story. The hero turns out to be a villain. What happens to Dhanalakshmi?? Just get to watch the movie for all these.

There are no major plus points in the film. As the entire film depended on revenge drama, there was a lot of bloodshed all through the film. The hero mercilessly kills the villains with stones and with every weapon that is available to him. The film also has several other elements like love, sentiment and action. The chemistry between Ajay and Malayalam actress Ramya Nambeesan worked out well. Though they move together, there are no songs between both of them. She played a very deglamorous role in this film. The director used a very good technique to make Ramya reveal her love towards the hero and at the same time, she was denied of showing the love to him. Ajay did a good job as a careless creature, who was in the habit of brewing arrack and sell/drink the arrack and pass time. He is performed excellently in action scenes, but they appeared gory in the film. Madhulika who played the other heroine in the film, filled the glamour slot.

The camera work was good in parts and the tunes are not that catchy. The dialogues penned for the film are average and were in colloquial language. All the artistes including the hero"s buddies, did a good job, and it is not known, why the director chose a big family for the second heroine as they had nothing to do with the film. The director went for an exaggeration of many things in the film and the screenplay is haphazard. Even for those who love action scenes the killings appear too cinematic and it is not that easy to kill people. Though the director incorporated a police officer"s role, who chose to relieve the hero as a gratitude that he had helped his lover reach him, it did not help the film to justify that a person could do anything as he likes just like that.

Though the director chose to give a good message that a person living in the society should have some social responsibility and one could not just keep off from that is happening around him. He tried to tell people that one should not evade from questioning others about something really wrong. However, the way he tried to give the message to the audiences is wrong and it boomeranged leaving a big zero to the upcoming hero Ajay. The film will not help him in anyway and it could not give any break to the career of Ajay.
