Venkatadri - Review

By Super Admin

Tarakaratna's comeback movie Venkatadri was in the making for more than two years. The film is about the rivalry between two families in Rayalaseema. One family is good and the other is bad; in the end the protagonist succeeds in punishing the villains who belong to the bad family.

The film begins with Venkatadri (Tarakaratna) being imprisoned and awaiting his death sentence to be carried out. A noble guy at heart, Venkatadri's last wish before he is hanged is to hold a classical music concert. The kind jailor (Sivakrishna), who is friendly with Venkatadri, gets permission from the Chief Minister (Sharath) and Venkatadri is allowed hold the music concert. The Chief Minister's daughter Shruthi (Mandeep Takkar), who is present during the music concert, falls in love with Venkatadri and she requests him to teach her music.

One day, a man named Seshadri and his group attacks Venkatadri in jail for unknown reasons. The film goes into flashback to narrate the past of Venkatadri and Seshadri. Venkatadri is the grandson of Ranganath, the head of a big family in Vempally, Pulivendra. Rama Raju, head of another family, is a bitter rival of Ranganath and always tries to demean him. Venkatadri is sent far away to a 'gurukul' to be brought up as a true Brahmin. He also learns classical music there. When Venkatadri comes back, the rivalry between the two families has reached its zenith. Several events force Venkatadri, who is soft at heart, to commit some cruel acts, which leads to his arrest and death sentence.

Tarakaratna looks very good as Venkatadri with his toned body. Mandeep Takkar as Shruthi gives only an average performance and could have emoted better. Ranganath and Hariprasad have done justice to their roles with good support from Sharath, Rama Raju and Sivakrishna.

V. Samudra, who is famous for action flicks, has come up with an average entertainer this time. Music by Srikanth Deva is neither bad nor great and cinematography by P.S. Babu is worthy of praise.

Venkatadri is only an average entertainer and although several big names are associated with it, the film does not quite live up to expectations.
