Leader - Review

Leader under the leadership of Sekhar Kammula has successfully touched the pulse of the people. The movie is all about politics, its dirt and a ray of hope for future India. The story revolves around a person who joins politics to make his father's dreams comes true, by ending the corruption putting a full stop.

The story line goes this way, Hero Arjun (Rana) returns from US after his father's(Suman) assasination. His father was the Chief Minister who earned wealth through malpractices. Then our hero decides to enter the politics to fulfill his father's dreams. Later, he comes to know about his father's misdeeds. Then to correct father's wrong doings he returns all his illegal wealth to the concerned owners. Meanwhile his uncle plans to take over the post of Chief Minister but Arjun outsmarts and becomes CM and wins his mother's heart and fights against corruption.

Rana Daggubati has proved that he is going to stay in the industry with his performance. Richa Gangopadhyay has done a reasonably good performance and Priya Anand has fitted the bill. Suhasini Manirathnam has given an out-standing performance. Harshavardhan played the protagonist"s buddy and had a lengthy role. Subbaraju is the other key player in the film, who played the villain. Others like Kota Sreenivasa Rao, Suman, Tanikella Bharani, Rao Ramesh, Ahuti Prasad, Udaya Bhanu and Narsing Yadav have also enacted their roles well. The selection of all the artistes was so perfect and every one lived up to their expectations.

Mickey J Meyer has scored some good music. Vijay C Kumar has handled the camera beautifully and finally story, screenplay, dialogues and direction by Sekhar Kammula has got mixed opinion, the narration in the first half is extraordinary and the director was very clear about what he is planning to present on the screen but in second half screenplay have lost its grip.

On the whole we should appreciate the efforts of the director for experimenting a message oriented movie. The absence of mass elements and sizzling dance numbers, the film may not go well with the masses. However, the film got an appreciation from the students and youth and the movie can be rated as 7 out of 10.
