Pilla Zamindar Review

By Ramchander

Nani is slowly but steadily building an image for himself. After delivering decent hits like Ala Modalaindi and Veppam, the actor is back with Pilla Zamindar. Let us see what he has offered the audience with his film. Tead on for Pilla Zamindar review.

Story:
The story is as old as films. Rich zamindar Nagineedu's son marries a girl against his wishes. As a result, he is deprived of the property. However Nagineedu realises his mistake after his son and daughter-in-law are killed in an accident. He does not want his grandson too to go in his son's way. So, Nagineedu frames a will, which specifically mentions that Nani will inherit the property only after he fulfills certain conditions. There is a catch here. Nani being filthy rich is used to a lavish lifestyle without caring a damn and he does not even respect elders or the lecturers and principal of the college. Nani now has to not only complete his degree course but he must do it in three years. He should also stay in the hostel and manage with a very little money. The college is situated in a small village. Therefore, Nani is forced to change his lifestyle. Will he succeed in fulfilling the conditions laid down by his grandfather? Whether the time spent in the college brings about a change in Nani. Answers to these questions form the interesting part of the story.

Performance:
Nani is okay and he has done a decent job both as a brash filthy rich zamindar as well as a student in the college. Haripriya is fairly good looking and she has got a lengthy role. Bindhu Madhavi is in the extended guest role. Nagineedu is wasted. MS Narayana gets to plays serious role. Rao Ramesh is his usual self. Dr Sivaaramakrishna is okay. Avasarala Srinivas is not utilised properly. The rest go about their roles as per the demands of the script.

Plus:
Nani is the only plus for the film. The other plus is in the form of a village backdrop and a decent star cast. Other than this, there is not much going for the film. A couple of scenes with some sentiment attached are the only ones that are good.

Minus:
The story is a minus. It is a stale story that one has seen many times before. The film does not have too many twists. The love interest and emotions too have been handled in a tame manner. The music and background score are average. The director has not succeeded in turning the film into a wholesome entertainer.

Verdict:
Pilla Zamindar is a routine film with a routine story about a rich zamindar and his wayward grandson. It is an average movie.
