Vaikuntapali has the essence of proverb 'man proposes but god disposes". It is about three friends, who have different goals in their life but none could achieve what they want. The concept is good but the director has failed to mould it effectively on the celluloid.
The film begins with the robbery of an ATM. Michael (Ranadhir) and Chandu (Krishnudu) involve in it. The police find a purse at the spot, which contains the photograph of Chandu and a visiting card of Kranti (Ajay). In the next scene, Chandu appears on screen and reveals the flash back. All three are good friends during college days and have different ideas and ambitions. While Kranti wanted to become a journalist and wants to do something for the society, Chandu says he would be happy if he could give his mother every joy in this world. Michael is a happy-go-lucky guy, who thinks that he could do anything and wants to become a millionaire overnight.
After six years, Kranti turns out to be a killer, Michael becomes a cheater and Chandu settles in his life with a job and struggles to provide medication to his ailing mother. Chandu needs Rs. 6 lakh for
his mother's treatement. At this juncture, all these three friends meet in an accident and share their experiences and boasts of themselves by telling lies to each other. Chandu takes Michael to his home not knowing that he is a wanted person for the people whom he cheated. Michael steals Rs 50,000 from his office. The rest of the film should be seen on-screen.
All the three male leads have done a wonderful job. As usual, Krishnudu has given his best, while Ajay has got a meaty role in the film. Tashu Kaushik is okay in her acting but get full marks for her skin shows. Ranadhir has done a nice job. Though, Rajiv Kanakala has appeared in a few scenes, he leaves an indelible mark in the hearts of the audiences.
The storyline is okay and has a good message. However, the narration is a little confusing. The screenplay is haphazard and at parts is too confusing to follow the movie. Cinematography by Jawahar Reddy is apt and Marthand K Venkatesh appears to have confused in joining the scenes due to the imperfect screenplay. The main drawback of the film is comedy. There are only a few comedy scenes in the film. Music has also failed in the film.
The Audience will go to a theatre for entertainment. The idea of giving a message is good but it should be given in an interesting way. The director has failed in this aspect.
