Dalam - Movie Review
Dalam is an action thriller with a good entertainment quotient. Naveen and Kishore's performances are big attractions in the film. Jeevan Reddy script and dialogues, Dhanraj and Krishnudu's comedy, beautiful picturisation, James Vasantha's background score and some emotional moments are its other highlights. The slow-placed narration in the second half and unconventional climax might disappoint the film goers. James' uninteresting songs are big drawbacks of the film.
Besides direction, Jeevan Reddy, the protege of Ram Gopal Varma, has penned story, screenplay and dialogues for Dalam. He succeeds in all these departments. He has chosen a unique story, which is set in the backdrop of naxal fight. He has brought out the subject neatly on screen. If he had done a bit more of research as far as the script is concerned, the film could have been the finest piece.
Dalam has a very entertaining first half, which keeps you glued to the screen with its fast-paced narration, a few good dialogues, some funny and emotional moments. The movie falls flat in the second half due to dragging narration. The climax is different and a bit unconventional, but it is not known how the Telugu audience will receive it.

Dalam Story
Abhi (Naveen Chandra) and Sathru (Kishore) are members of naxalites group Dalam consisting 20 naxals. Realising their futile battle, they surrender to the police and the jailer recruits them for special operations, which lands them in consequences. What are those consequences? Will they save themselves from it? The answers to these questions will form the crux of the story.
Naveen Chandra And Kishore's Performances
Naveen Chandra and Kishore have played naxals and both are perfect fit for their respective roles. Their performances are very energetic and electrifying in the film. Their serious looks will sure to leave you spellbound. The chemistry between the two is very good to watch on screen.
Pia Bajpayee's Role In Dalam
Actress Pia Bajpayee, who appears as Naveen's love interest, has a small screen presence, yet it is very crucial to the film. She has tried her best to do justice to her role. She will impress you with her glamour in a song sequence.
Supporting Artistes In Dalam
As AK 47 and Bhadram, Dhanraj and Krishnudu try their best to tickle your funny bones. As encounter specialist and jailer, Abhimanyu Singh and Harshavardhan impress you with their good performances. Nassar, Saikumar and others have also done justice to their roles.
Production Values In Dalam
Cinematography is the main attraction in the technical front. James Vasantha's background score is a big asset, but his songs are a big let down in the film. Other departments like script, dialogues, art direction, costumes, makeup have also done commendable job. Editing is good in the first half, but it should have been better in the first half.
Dalam Verdict
Overall, Dalam is good action entertainer, which will impress the mass audience with its comedy and romance. Don't miss to watch it this weekend.
