Several
movies
have
already
been
made
on
backdrop
of
college
in
Tollywood,
but
very
few
strike
the
right
chord.
Sundeep
Kishan's
latest
outing
Mahesh,
which
is
the
dubbed
version
of
Tamil
film
Yaaruda
Mahesh,
is
one
such
movie,
which
fails
to
meet
the
viewers'
expectations
that
it
had
created
prior
its
release.
Despite
having
all
commercial
elements,
the
movie
fails
to
impress
the
audiences.
Mahesh
is
an
adult
comedy
with
lots
of
double
entendres
and
some
sex
gags.
Jagan's
acting
is
the
main
attraction
in
the
film.
Gopi
Sundar's
music,
Raana's
picturisation,
a
few
comedy
scenes
and
funny
one-liners
are
other
highlights
of
the
movie.
The
weak
script,
aimless
and
dragging
narration
are
the
big
drawbacks
of
the
movie.
Madhan
Kumar
has
chosen
tried
and
tested
story
of
a
coming-of-age,
which
has
been
brought
to
screens
several
times
in
the
Tollywood.
Moreover,
the
director
has
failed
to
breath
any
freshness
in
the
script,
which
runs
aimlessly
in
the
first
half
and
suddenly
turns
predictable
in
the
second
half
of
the
film.
The
narration
in
the
first
half
is
quite
slow
and
literally
hops
with
a
search
of
direction.
The
audience
feel
like
watching
a
TV
serial,
and
a
few
adult
jokes
keep
them
entertained
in
this
portion.
Post
interval
bang,
some
illogical
comedy
scenes
of
Mahesh
make
the
viewers
laugh,
but
the
narration
becomes
quite
predictable.
The
climax
is
big
let
down.

Mahesh
Story
Shiva
(Sundeep
Kishan)
is
a
lazy
and
carefree
college
student,
who
spends
most
of
his
time
boozing
in
bars
with
his
friend
Vasanth
(Jagan).
He
falls
in
love
with
Sindhiya
(Dimple).
He
decides
to
marry
her
after
knowing
that
she
is
pregnant
with
his
first
child.
The
story
takes
an
interesting
twist
when
Shiva
overhears
conversation
of
Sindhiya
with
her
ex-lover
Mahesh.
What
happens
next
will
form
the
crux
of
the
story.
Sundeep's
Performance
In
Mahesh
As
carefree
guy
Shiva,
Sundeep
Kishan
has
given
a
decent
performance.
He
tried
his
best
in
all
kinds
of
scenes.
Yet
his
acting
fails
to
impress
the
audience.
The
director
should
be
blamed
for
his
weak
characterisation.
Jagan
Shoulders
Mahesh
But
it
is
his
co-star
Jagan,
who
shoulders
the
film
and
his
performance,
body
language
and
dialogue
delivery
rock
the
film
goers.
He
really
walks
away
with
lot
of
praises
from
the
movie
buffs.
Dimple's
Glamour
In
Mahesh
Dimple
Chopade
has
filled
the
glam
doll
and
she
has
also
delivered
good
performance.
Others
like
Srinath,
Livingston,
Uma
Padmanaban,
Swaminathan,
Singamuthu
and
Nellai
Siva
have
done
justice
to
their
respective
characters.
Production
Values
In
Mahesh
Technically,
Mahesh
has
some
sound
production
elements
among
which
Raana's
cinematography
stands
out.
Gopi
Sunder
has
churned
out
a
few
passable
numbers.
Other
technical
departments
have
also
done
a
commendable
job.
Mahesh
Verdict
Overall,
Mahesh
is
an
obsolete
adult
comedy
and
it
could
have
been
better,
if
the
director
has
worked
more
on
its
script.
It
will
rock
the
audience
in
B
and
C
centres.
