Karthik
Subbaraj's
debut
directorial
venture
Pizza
starring
Vijay
Sethupathi
and
Remya
Nambeeshan
in
leads,
is
a
Tamil
suspense
thriller,
which
has
been
critically
acclaimed
movie,
besides
being
a
big
success
at
the
TN
Box
Office.
Now,
the
makers
of
the
film
have
it
dubbed
and
released
in
Telugu
today
(February
15).
It
is
sure
to
impress
Telugu
audience
too.
Pizza
is
one
of
the
finest
Indian
thrillers
and
debutant
Vijay
Sethupathi's
excellent
performance
is
the
main
highlight
in
the
film.
Karthik
Subbaraj's
clever
screenplay,
Santhosh
Narayanan's
excellent
background
score,
Gopi
Amarnath's
amazing
cinematography
are
other
attractions
of
the
movie.
There
are
no
big
drawbacks
except
uninteresting
songs.
The
flick
does
not
have
commercial
elements
and
it
lacks
Telugu
nativity,
which
can
be
called
drawbacks
as
per
Telugu
viewers'
taste.
Karthik
Subbaraj
has
chosen
a
wonderful
storyline
and
also
created
a
brilliant
screenplay
for
it.
The
director
has
amazing
grip
over
its
tempo.
The
movie
begins
as
usual
with
introduction
of
lead
roles,
but
the
element
of
suspense
gets
a
new
twist
to
the
story,
which
makes
you
glued
to
the
screen.
The
thrill
continues
in
the
second
half,
which
is
the
life
and
soul
of
the
film.
The
climax
is
even
more
brilliant
and
unpredictable.
Mike
aka
Michael
(Vijay
Sethupathi)
is
a
pizza
delivery
boy
and
he
has
a
live-in
relationship
with
his
girlfriend
Anu
(Remya
Nambeesan),
who
is
an
aspiring
novelist,
who
is
writing
a
horror
story.
Mike
does
not
believe
in
supernatural
powers,
but
he
soon
realises
their
presence,
when
Pizza
restaurant
owner
Shanmugam's
(Naren)
daughter
is
possessed
by
a
spirit.
One
particular
day,
Michael
goes
out
to
deliver
a
pizza
to
a
customer
and
returns
back
to
the
restaurant
in
a
state
of
shock
while
covered
in
blood
and
apparently
injured
muttering
his
partner
Anu's
name
over
and
over
again.
What
happens
when
he
goes
to
deliver
pizza
will
form
the
crux
of
the
story,
which
should
be
watched
on
screen.

Review
The
film
Pizza
is
supported
by
a
slow,
but
crisp
screenplay
that
may
not
engage
initially,
but
sends
chill
down
your
spine
at
the
later
part.

Review
Vijay
Sethupathi,
who
has
earlier
played
small
roles,
looks
very
convincing
in
the
role
of
a
pizza
delivery
boy
in
the
movie
Pizza.
He
has
delivered
wonderful
acting.
His
facial
expressions
and
body
language
in
scenes
like
fear,
love
and
slyness
are
simply
superb.

Remya
Nambeesan
looks
cool
as
a
horror
novelist
and
she
has
also
given
a
convincing
act.
But
the
director
should
have
given
a
little
more
attention
to
her
makeup.

The
supporting
cast
including
Naren,
Pooja,
Jaykumar
and
Veera
Sethuraman
have
also
delivered
good
performances.
The
director
should
have
given
a
little
scope
for
comedy
element.

Santosh
Narayan's
music
is
an
integral
part
of
the
film
Pizza.
His
compositions
are
situational
and
they
gel
well
with
the
screenplay.
But
they
are
not
very
impressive.
But
his
background
score
is
a
big
asset
to
the
movie.
It
helps
the
director
to
elevate
the
intensity
of
several
horror
scenes.

Gopi
Amarnath's
picturisation
is
another
big
highlight
in
the
technical
front.
The
way
he
has
set
his
frame
in
both
romantic
and
haunting
sequences
is
excellent
and
it
is
visual
treat
to
the
audience.

Review
Overall,
Pizza
has
all
the
elements
to
make
a
perfect
suspense
thriller.
It
has
good
performance,
intriguing
and
gripping
narration,
deft
camera
work,
eerie
sound
effects
and
nice
background
score.
It
is
surely
a
treat
for
lovers
of
the
horror
films.
Don't
miss
it
if
you
are
the
one.
